WHEREAS, an emergency has arisen in Special Item of Appropriation in the additional amount of $1,266,469.22, bringing total program cost to $6,929,474.35 for Ferry Street Intersection Safety Improvements Project Grant and no adequate provision has been made in the 2024 Temporary Budget for the aforesaid purpose; and
WHEREAS, N.J.S.A. 40A:4-20 provides for the creation of an emergency appropriation for the above-mentioned purpose; and
WHEREAS, by award letter dated July 3, 2024 from the Federal Highway Aid Program/New Jersey Department of Transportation, the City of Newark was awarded $1,266,469.22 in additional funds to provide for Ferry Street Intersection Safety Improvements Project Grant; and
WHEREAS, N.J.S.A 40A:4-20 provides that the Governing Body by a two-thirds vote of the full membership, may make temporary emergency appropriations for any purpose for which appropriations may lawfully be made for the period between the beginning of the current fiscal year and the...
