WHEREAS, the New Jersey Department of Agriculture, Bureau of Child Nutrition Programs' Summer Food Service Program reimburses the City of Newark for meals served to children who live in areas in which at least 50% of the children qualify for free or reduced-price meals under the National School Lunch Program; and

WHEREAS, the City of Newark provides meals to Newark children through the SuNuP Summer Food Service Program and is in need of additional funding to sustain the program and continue the provision of meals for the summer of 2017; and

WHEREAS, on March 31, 2017, on behalf of the City of Newark, the Interim Director of the Department of Health and Community Wellness submitted an application to the New Jersey Department of Agriculture, Division of Food and Nutrition, Summer Food Service Program (hereinafter "State"), requesting grant funding in the amount of one million, two hundred fourteen thousand, six hundred twenty-six dol...
