WHEREAS, on or about April 28, 2022, on behalf of the City of Newark (hereinafter the "City"), the Public Safety Director submitted an application to the United States Department of Justice - Bureau of Justice Assistance, requesting funding in the amount of $220,333.00 from the FY2021 Project Safe Neighborhood Grant Program, to fund police initiatives to address violent crime; and

WHEREAS, pursuant to the terms of the grant application, a copy of which is attached hereto, the City is required to submit a resolution from the Newark Municipal Council authorizing submission of the grant application; and

WHEREAS, as a result of this application, the City has received notification of receipt of the grant award in connection with this application, in the amount of $220,333.00, for the period beginning October 1, 2021 and ending September 30, 2024, to fund police initiatives to address violent crime; and
