WHEREAS, the City of Newark is desirous of providing venues for wholesome family events that encourages residents to come out and enjoy themselves during the summer months; and
WHEREAS, the Annual Puerto Rican Day Parade and Boricua Music Festival offers residents, particularly those of Puerto Rican and Hispanic descent, the opportunity to enjoy a parade and music festival featuring Puerto Rican and Hispanic culture, food, and entertainment; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Municipal Council indicates its' support of the Annual Puerto Rican Day Parade and Boricua Music Festival. The Parade will be held on Broadway, beginning at Harvey Street and ending at Verona Avenue. The Boricua Music Festival will be held on Verona Avenue, between Mt. Prospect Avenue and Broadway. The event will be held on Sunday, September 16, 2018, from 12:00 P.M. until 10:00 P.M.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council hereby supports the Puerto Rican Day Parade and Boricua Music Festival, to be held on Broadway, beginning at Harvey Street and ending at Verona Avenue. The Boricua Music Festival will be held on Verona Avenue between Mt. Prospect Avenue and Broadway. The event will be held on Sunday, September 16, 2018, from 12:00 P.M. until 10:00 P.M.
