Whereas, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), implemented the FY 2022 Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grant program in order to improve and restore local fire departments' staffing and deployment capabilities so that they may more effectively respond to emergencies; and

WHEREAS, the Department of Public Safety, Division of Fire, in furtherance of its efforts to protect the health and safety of the public against fire and fire-related hazards, desires to make use of SAFER grant funds to restore and maintain the number of trained, front-line firefighters so that the Department of Public Safety, Division of Fire may more effectively respond to emergencies; and

WHEREAS, on or about March 16, 2023, the Director of the Department of Public Safety, Division of Fire caused an application to be submitted to FEMA requesting funding in the amount of Five Million Three Hundred Forty-Six Thousand Six Hundred Thirty-Nine Dollars and Sixty Cents ($5,346,639.60) from the FY 2022 SAFER grant program to r...
