TITLE
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 23:5-5.1, FOUR (4) HOUR PARKING FOR NONRESIDENTIAL VEHICLES, OF TITLE 23, TRAFFIC AND PARKING, OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, 2000, AS AMENDED AND SUPPLEMENTED, BY ADDING DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. BOULEVARD BETWEEN CRANE STREET AND BLOOMFIELD AVENUE.

BODY
WHEREAS, the Department of Engineering wishes to limit parking to four (4) hours on both sides of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard between Crane Street and Bloomfield Avenue for vehicles without a residential parking permit; and
WHEREAS, the parking limitation will increase and improve traffic flow and encourage parking space turnover for residents, visitors, businesses and customers.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
Section 1. That Section 23:5-5.1, Four (4) Hour Parking for Nonresidential Vehicles, of Title 23, Traffic and Parking, of the Revised General Ordinances of the City of Newark, New Jersey, 2000, as amended and supplemented, be amended by adding thereto the following:
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard between Crane Street and Bloomfield Avenue
Both sides, 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Sunday
Section 2. Any existing ordinances or parts thereof inconsistent with this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon final passage and publication and in accordance with the laws of the State of New Jersey.
Section 4. This ordinance does not require approval by the Commissioner of Transportation.
STATEMENT
This ordinance requires vehicles that do not possess a residential permit to a four (4) hour parking limitation at any of the parking spaces along both sides of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, between Crane Street and Bloomfield Avenue, from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Sunday.
