WHEREAS, Ordinance 6PSF-f, adopted on May 20, 2015, authorizes the designation of an intersection, etc., for honorary and ceremonial purposes; and

WHEREAS, Adalberto Del Valle, born in Pinar del Rio, Cuba, he and his family came to the City of Newark in July of 1971. As he attended school to improve himself and acquire a command of the English language Adalberto attended Montclair State University. As he supported his family he was employed as a lab technician at the Hooten Chocolate Factory then moved on to Seton Leather Factory where he was promoted to the position of manager; and

WHEREAS, in 1977 Adalberto Del Valle purchased an apartment building. As he became a landlord, he also became a long-standing neighbor and active member of the community, as he raised his family; and

WHEREAS, while actively residing in the community, he was known to support members of his community, local businesses and hire from within his community. He was known as a mentor that made himself available to provide support to those who needed his assistance. Adalberto never forgot the city of Newark; his contributions are immeasurable and his legacy worthy of notable recognition.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

1. The Municipal Council does hereby authorize the honorary and ceremonial renaming of the intersection of Montclair Avenue and Mount Prospect Avenue “Adalberto Del Valle Way”.
