Additional Information:
To ensure the inclusion of public access to, along, and onto the river in all redevelopment projects, the City of Newark will implement the Public Trust Doctrine and prepare a full Municipal Public Access Plan consistent with the Coastal Zone Management Rules with the acceptance of NJDEP MPAP grant.

WHEREAS, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, Division of Coastal and Land Use Planning, ("NJDEP"), provides small grants through its Municipal Public Access Planning Grant Program on a competitive basis to financially assist municipalities to develop a Municipal Public Access Plan that ensures public access is being provided to tidal waterways in a manner that is consistent with local planning objectives, the Coastal Zone Management ("CZM") rules, and in a way that minimizes a municipalities risk to coastal hazards; and
