Whereas, Ordinance 6PSF-f, adopted on May 20, 2015, authorizes the designation of an intersection, etc., for honorary and ceremonial purposes; and

 

Whereas, Deacon Eugene Vick, Jr., was born and educated in Newark, NJ School System and graduated from West Side High School in 1982, and fell in love and married Samantha McNair; and

 

Whereas, Eugene would always greet you with a smile that lit up the

atmosphere, and he loved the Lord and became very involved church such as Beulah Baptist Church in Newark, where he served on many ministries especially the Juniorette Choir and also was ordained at the Fellowship Baptist Church in Newark; and

 

                     Whereas, Deacon Eugene Vick, Jr., will always be remembered as a dedicated, loving and skilled person who was a testament to everyone he met and shared his compassion and kindness.

 

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

 

1.                     The Municipal Council does hereby authorize the honorary and ceremonial renaming of South 20th Street and 19th Avenue as “Deacon Eugene Vick, Jr., Way.”

2.                     The official name of the streets shall remain South 20th Street and 19th Avenue in its entirety.

 

STATEMENT

 

This Resolution authorizes the naming of the intersection South 20th Street and 19th Avenue as Deacon Eugene Vick, Jr., Way,” for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
