This Resolution authorizes the City of Newark to request a time extension from NJDOT to allow the City of Newark additional time to award a contract for construction of the Safe Streets to Newark's Transit Hub Project. The deadline would be extended from May 27, 2026 to November 27, 2026.

WHEREAS, the State of New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) FY-2024 Safe Street to Transit state aid program provides municipalities with grant funding to improve safety and accessibility to transit facilities; and
WHEREAS, on July 1, 2023, the Acting Director of the Department of Engineering, on behalf of the City of Newark (the "City"), submitted an application to NJDOT requesting grant funding from the NJDOT FY-2024 Safe Streets to Transit Grant Program for the construction of the Newark's Transit Hub Project, identified as LA-2024 SST Newark City Safe Streets to Newark's Transit Hub (the "Project"); and
WHEREAS, on July 11, 2023, the Municipal Council adopted Resolution 7R3-d (s) ratifying and authorizing the application for, acceptance of, and receipt of said grant award from the NJDOT; and
