AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 23:15-1, STOP INTERSECTIONS, OF TITLE 23, TRAFFIC AND PARKING, OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, 2000, AS AMENDED AND SUPPLEMENTED, BY DESIGNATING CAROLINA AVENUE AND LAUREL PLACE A STOP SIGN INTERSECTION.

WHEREAS, the Division of Traffic and Signals desires to improve safety at the intersection of Carolina Avenue and Laurel Place by requiring drivers to stop on Carolina Avenue before entering the path of vehicles traveling on Laurel Place, in the West Ward.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
Section 1.. That Section 23:15-1, Stop Intersections, of Title 23, Traffic and Parking, of the Revised General Ordinances of the City of Newark, New Jersey, 2000, as amended and supplemented, be amended by adding thereto the following:
Carolina Avenue and Laurel Place with stop on Carolina Avenue
Section 2. Any ordinances or parts thereof inconsistent with this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon final passage and publication and in accordance with the laws of the State of New Jersey.
Section 4. This ordinance does not require approval by the Commissioner of Transportation.
STATEMENT
This ordinance establishes the intersection of Carolina Avenue and Laurel Place as a stop intersection with vehicles stopping on Carolina Avenue, in the West Ward.
