WHEREAS, an emergency has arisen in Special Item of Appropriation in the amount of Six Hundred Seventy-One Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents ($671,000.00)for the City's Newark Tree Canopy Initiative: Growing and Proud of It, and no adequate provision has been made in the 2026 Temporary Budget for the aforesaid purpose; and
WHEREAS, N.J.S.A. 40A:4-20 provides for the creation of an emergency appropriation for the same; and
WHEREAS, by a Notice of Award dated April 1, 2024, , The Nature Conservancy awarded the City of Newark a Grant in the amount of Six Hundred Seventy-One Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents ($671,000.00), for the implementation of the "Newark Tree Canopy Initiative: Growing and Proud of It" Project, as an additional resource to the City of Newark, to further address its heat island index needs; and
WHEREAS, N.J.S.A. 40A:4-20 provides that the Governing Body, by a two-thirds vote, may make temporary emergency appropriations for any purpose for which appropriations may lawfully be made for the period b...
