Whereas, Ordinance 6PSF-f, adopted on May 20, 2015, authorizes the designation of an intersection, etc., for honorary and ceremonial purposes; and

WHEREAS, Sister June Favata, a beloved member of the Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth religious order, was a gifted educator who throughout her five decades of service empowering and motivating thousands of young women at Newark's renowned all girls Saint Vincent Academy; and

WHEREAS, over her fifty years at the helm of Saint Vincent Academy, Sister June Fava left an indelible mark on her students, many who went on to become outstanding professionals, educators and community leaders; and

WHEREAS, her professional teaching career was widely recognized for her unyielding commitment to excellence in teaching and exemplified by the numerous honors and accolades she received including the prestigious Princeton University's Distinguished Secondary School Teaching Prize. Before her ministry of service at Saint Vincent Academy, she taught at several regional schools in New Jersey delivering the embodiment and virtues of Saint Vincent de Paul-humility, simplicity and charity; and

WHEREAS, while she served as a mother figure for those young ladies seeking guidance, love and nurturing, her legacy lives in the thousands of women whose lives she shaped through educational excellence, encouragement, kindness and wisdom, and the unwavering belief in...
