AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 23:5-1, PARKING PROHIBITED AT ALL TIMES; AND 23:5-4, PARKING LIMITED TO ONE (1) HOUR, OF TITLE XXIII, TRAFFIC AND PARKING, CHAPTER 5, PARKING, STOPPING AND STANDING, GENERALLY, OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, 2000, AS AMENDED AND SUPPLEMENTED, TO PROHIBIT PARKING ON BLOOMFIELD AVENUE, BOTH SIDES, BETWEEN LAKE STREET AND NORTH THIRD STREET. WHEREAS, the Council Member for the North Ward, Anibal Ramos, Jr. has received numerous complaints from residents concerning parking along Bloomfield Avenue between Lake Street and North Third Street; and
WHEREAS, there is currently a one (1) hour parking restriction in effect on Bloomfield Avenue, from Broadway to Bloomfield Town Line, North side, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and South side from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., which includes that portion of Bloomfield Avenue between Lake Street and North Third Street; pursuant to Section 23:5-4; and
WHEREAS, the Municipal Council agrees that it is desirable to amend Section 23:5-4 by removing Bloomfield Avenue, both sides, between Lake Street and North Third Street; and revise Section 23:5-1, Parking Prohibited at All Times, by adding "No Parking Anytime" restrictions on Bloomfield Avenue, both sides, between Lake Street and North Third Street in the North Ward; and
WHEREAS, following approval and adoption by the Newark Municipal Council, the City Clerk shall send a certified copy of the adopted Ordinance tothe Essex County, Department of Public Works, Division of Engineering, Public Works Director and County Engineer, 900 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona, New Jersey 07044, for the County to erect "No Parking Anytime" signage.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
