 Whereas, Ordinance 6PSF-E, May 20, 2015, authorizes the designation of an intersection, etc. for honorary and ceremonial purposes; and

 

Whereas, Candido Arroyo, is a prominent leader in the City of Newark  North Ward Hispanic community where he has served faithfully as a District Leader and founded the Homeowners and Merchants Association of North Newark and owned and operated Arroyo’s Supermarket for 40 years; and

 

Whereas, the Newark Municipal Council would like to commemorate his unselfish dedication to Newark by renaming the intersection Summer Avenue and 2nd Avenue in his honor.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

                     

1.                     The Municipal Council does hereby authorize and ratify the renaming of the corner of Summer Avenue and 2nd Avenue as Candido Arroyo Way.

 

2.                     The names of said streets shall remain Summer Avenue and 2nd Avenue in their entirety.
