WHEREAS, Ordinance 6PSF-f, adopted on May 20, 2015, authorizes the designation of an intersection, etc., for honorary and ceremonial purposes; and

WHEREAS, Pastor Jeremiah E. Maxfield was born August 6, 1953, in Whiteville, North Carolina and after graduation from North Carolina A&T University he received his calling to the ministry and attended Rankin Theological Seminary and Bowles Bible Institute of Technicality in Newark, New Jersey before receiving intense ministerial training under the tutelage of Reverend Dr. Melvin D. McDaniel; and

WHEREAS, Pastor Maxfield received his ordination in 1983 and was unanimously elected Pastor of Gravel Hill Missionary Baptist Church, located in Newark, New Jersey. In 1985, where he quickly earned an outstanding reputation as a teacher, counselor, lecturer, facilitator, educator, volunteer and as an influential community leader and vital asset to the City of Newark, especially the Clinton Avenue corridor and the Clinton Hill community; and

WHEREAS, Pastor Maxfield received numerous awards and accolades for his contributions to the City of Newark and was especially instrumental to the development of Clinton Avenue and the Clinton Hill community.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
