WHEREAS, the Plaintiff, Tanisha Rollins, Administrator Ad Prosequendum, on behalf of the Estate of Jammie Najier Nelson a/k/a Jammie Najier Salaam, instituted a suit in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, captioned Tanisha Rollins, Administrator Ad Prosequendum, on behalf of the Estate of Jammie Najier Nelson v. City of Newark, City of Newark Police Department, Det. Mario Garcia, Det. Tyrone Morton, Det. Miguel Ressurreicao, Det. Manuel Souto, and Sgt. Rahmaun Horton, United States District Court, District of New Jersey, Docket 18-cv-14473 (EP-JBC), in which the Plaintiff sought recovery for damages allegedly sustained in 2016, as a result of the actions of City of Newark employees; and

WHEREAS, a Settlement Proposal has been made to resolve this litigation in its entirety by payment in the total amount of Ninety Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents ($90,000.00) (the "Settlement Sum"), and execution of a Settlement Agreement and Release; and

WHEREAS, to avoid the costly expense of litigation, the Parties and the City's Corporation Counsel desire to amicably resolve this matter with payment by the City of Newark (the "City") of the Settlement Sum, in exchange for Plaintiff's execution of the Settlement Agreement and Release (attached) as a full and complete release of the matter; and
