WHEREAS, on behalf of the City of Newark, the Public Safety Director submitted an application to the State of New Jersey, Department of Law & Public Safety, Office of the Attorney General, requesting funding in the amount of Seven Hundred Forty-Five Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents ($745, 000.00), to fund the expansion of the Newark Police Division's Automatic License Plate Reader (ALPR-12-21) Network in order to reduce gun violence and other violent crime, with no City funds required; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the terms of the grant application, a copy of which is attached hereto, the City of Newark is required to submit a resolution from the Newark Municipal Council authorizing submission of the grant application; and
