WHEREAS, the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has approved a total allocation of $16,043,165.00 to the City of Newark by an approval notice dated December 28, 2022, and on March 1, 2023, pursuant to Resolution 7R1-h, the Municipal Council authorized the Mayor of the City of Newark and Business Administrator to file a new Consolidated Plan with HUD, which contains a request for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds in the amount $6,924,742.00, HOME funds in the amount $3,166,299.00 Housing Opportunities for People with AIDS (HOPWA) in the amount of $5,319,429.00 (on behalf of Newark and the "Eligible Metropolitan Area"), and Emergency Solutions Grant funds in the amount of $632,695.00, in compliance with Federal statutes and regulations governing the four (4) aid grant programs; and
