WHEREAS, the City of Newark has a very large and vibrant Portuguese community, which has contributed greatly to the progress of the City through its social, economic and political growth; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Portugal Day Parade, pays tribute to the rich cultural heritage of the Portuguese community and its contributions to the City of Newark and the Metropolitan Area; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Municipal Council has indicated its support and sponsorship of the 2017 Portugal Day Parade, to be held on Ferry Street in the East Ward, on Sunday, June 10, 2018.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council does hereby support and sponsors the Portugal Day Parade to be held on Ferry Street in the East Ward, on Sunday, June 10, 2018, from 2:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.

This resolution hereby supports and declares sponsorship of the 2018 Portugal Day Parade to be held on Ferry Street in the East Ward on Sunday, June 10, 2018, from 2:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., sponsored by Councilman, Augusto Amador.
