AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE II, ADMINISTRATION, CHAPTER 2, OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK, SECTION 3, CITY CLERK, SUBSECTION 1, HONORARY AND CEREMONIAL STREET DEDICATIONS; DESIGNATIONS, OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, 2016, AS AMENDED AND SUPPLEMENTED, BY PROVIDING ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ELIGIBILITY.

WHEREAS, the Municipal Council is authorized pursuant to City Ordinance to approve ceremonial street dedications and designations honoring individuals for their public service in the City of Newark; and
WHEREAS, the Municipal Council has determined to amend the City's Ordinance, to provide additional requirements for eligibility for a ceremonial street dedication and designation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

SECTION 1. The foregoing whereas clauses are incorporated herein by reference and made a part hereof.
SECTION 2. Title II, Administration, Chapter 2, Office of the City Clerk, Section 3, City Clerk, Subsection 1, Honorary and Ceremonial Street Dedications; Designations is hereby amended to provide for additional requirement for eligibility.
? 2:3-1.12 HONORARY AND CEREMONIAL STREET DEDICATIONS; DESIGNATIONS.
A. The President of the Municipal Council shall be responsible for approving all legislation regarding street dedication and designation ceremonies.
B. All request must be in writing for consideration of a street dedication and include the street dedication application. The written request shall include the reason for the street dedication, the biography of the individual, or a description of the organization.
C. All requests for street dedications and designations shall be forwarded to the President of the Governing Body for his/her consideration.
