WHEREAS, the New Jersey Department of Agriculture, Division of Food and Nutrition ("NJDA") reimburses the City of Newark ("City") for meals served to children who live in areas in which at least fifty percent (50%) of the children qualify for free or reduced-price meals under the National School Lunch Program; and
WHEREAS, the City provides meals to Newark children through SuNuP Summer Food Service Program and is in need of additional funding to sustain the program and to continue the provision of meals for the summer of 2024; and
WHEREAS, on or about February 28, 2024, on behalf of the City, the Director of the Department of Recreation, Culture Affairs and Senior Services submitted an application to the NJDA requesting grant funding in the amount of One Million, Two Hundred Nineteen Thousand Two Hundred Seventy Nine Dollars and Zero Cents ($1,219,279.00) for the 2024 SuNup Summer Food Service Program for the provision of meal services to City children; and
