Whereas, Ordinance 6PSF-E, authorizes the designation of an intersection, etc. for honorary and ceremonial purposes; and
Whereas, Alma Beatty, the former Vice President of Community Affairs at Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark and community activist, contributed greatly to the civic, economic and political progress of the South Ward community and its residents; and
Whereas, the Newark Municipal Council would like to commemorate her achievements by renaming the intersection of Lyons Avenue and Osborne Terrace, in her honor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

1. The Municipal Council does hereby authorize the renaming of the corner of Lyons Avenue and Osborne Terrace as Alma Beatty Way for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
2. The names of said streets shall remain Lyons Avenue and Osborne Terrace in their entirety.
