AN ORDINANCE AMENDING VARIOUS TITLES OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, 2000, AS AMENDED AND SUPPLEMENTED, ADJUSTING THE LICENSE RENEWAL PERIOD AND FEE TO MATCH THE NEW BIENNIAL LICENSING SCHEDULE FOR CERTAIN ESTABLISHMENTS, THROUGHOUT THE CITY OF NEWARK.

WHEREAS, the City of Newark desires to have uniformed business licensing fees and periods of renewal; and
WHEREAS, establishing biennial periods of renewal and altering fee schedules will reduce the hardship of business owners in having to renew their licenses annually; and
WHEREAS, in order to facilitate the City of Newark's consolidated business licensing process, the Department of Finance had to create a new Section under Title VIII of the revised ordinances, titled Title VIII, Business and Occupations, Chapter 8, Section 36 entitled "Consolidated Business Licenses"; and
WHEREAS, all effected ordinances must be revised to reflect with the changes to the renewal period and fees.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

SECTION 1. Title V, Amusement and Amusement Business, of the Revised General Ordinances of the City of Newark, New Jersey, 2000, as amended and supplemented, is revised and creates the following:
5:1. Arcades
5:1-5. License Fee
The fee to be paid for the license required by this Chapter shall be $1,500 per annum $3,000 biennially. The license shall expire biennially on March 31st after its date of issuance. If any applicant obtains an initial license pursuant to this Section after the renewal date or in between a biennial cycle, the applicant will pay a pro-rated application fee. The applicant's license will thereafter expire on March 31st in accordance with the biennial licensing cycle.
