WHEREAS, Jilil Wilkins ("Mr. Wilkins") has been an employee of the City of Newark, (the "City") as a Police Officer from July 31, 2017 through the present; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Wilkins is an active member of the Police and Firemen's Retirement System (PFRS) and has two (2) years, five (5) months of PFRS Service Credit, not meeting the minimum service requirement of at least four (4) years of PFRS membership; and
WHEREAS, the Director of the Department of Public Safety, based upon the advice and documentation provided by physicians, certifies that Mr. Wilkins is unable to perform his assigned duties; and
WHEREAS, the City is unable to provide an alternative to the PFRS covered position with duties capable of being performed by Mr. Wilkins; and
WHEREAS, the Director of the Department of Public Safety has consented to the processing of the Involuntary Disability Retirement application.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Business Administrator, the Director of the Department of Public Safety and the Director of Personnel are authorized to process the Involuntary Disability Retirement application for Mr. Wilkins.
2. Certified copies of this Resolution shall be forwarded to all parties involved in the administration of this action.
