WHEREAS, Ordinance 6PSF-e adopted on May 20, 2015, authorizes the designation of an intersection, etc. for honorary and ceremonial purposes; and

                     WHEREAS, Reverend Dr. D.J. Jenkins was a noted religious leader in the City of Newark for many years and a very active member of the religious community.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

1.                     The Municipal Council does hereby authorize the honorary and ceremonial renaming of the intersection of Springfield Avenue and 15^th Street as Rev. Dr. D.J. Jenkins Plaza.

2.                     The official name of the said streets shall remain Springfield Avenue and 15th Street in its entirety.

STATEMENT

This resolution hereby authorizes the naming of the intersection of Springfield Avenue and 15^th Street as Rev. Dr. D.J. Jenkins Plaza, for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
