WHEREAS, the New Jersey Department of Agriculture ("NJDA"), Division of Food and Nutrition ("Division") Summer Food Service Program reimburses municipalities for meals served to children who live in areas in which at least fifty percent (50%) of the children qualify for free or reduced-price meals under the National School Lunch Program; and
WHEREAS, the City of Newark ("City") provides meals to Newark children through its SuNuP Summer Food Service Program ("Program") and needs additional funding to sustain said Program and to continue the provision of meals for the summer of 2026; and
WHEREAS, on or about March 13, 2026, on behalf of the City, the Director of the Department of Recreation, Culture Affairs and Senior Services submitted an application to the NJDA requesting grant funding in the amount of One Million, Nine Hundred Eighteen Thousand, Seven Hundred Forty-One Dollars and Seventy-Five Cents ($1,918,741.75) for the provision of meal services to children through the City's SuNuP Program; and
