Whereas, Ordinance 6PSF-f, adopted on May 20, 2015, authorizes the designation of an intersection, etc., for honorary and ceremonial purposes; and

WHEREAS, Pastor Anna Cooper, founder of Mother's Foundation Holiness Church established in 1973 in Newark, New Jersey, was a remarkable woman and one of Newark's shining examples of a true "prayer warrior"; and

WHEREAS, born in Hemingway, South Carolina in 1934, she established the Mother's Foundation Holiness Church in the basement of her home with a few faithful members, which later flourished under her charismatic leadership, into a permanent place of worship in 1980 at 262 12th Avenue also known as the "Holy Ghost Headquarters", which became a refuge for those seeking growth, refuge and spiritual renewal; and

WHEREAS, Pastor Anna Cooper was the epitome of a "prayer warrior" and genuine giver--clothing and feeding the community for over forty years at her own expense, rarely soliciting donations but selflessly giving without any reservation; and

WHEREAS, for her unselfish dedication and service to the community she was recognized in the 'Spreading the Word: Women Clergy of Newark" two-year calendar in 2020 for her lasting impact in the community; and

WHEREAS, the contributions of the late Pastor Anna Cooper to the Newark community is immeasurable and worthy of recognition.
