WHEREAS, at the request of the Department of Engineering and review of the traffic operations by New Jersey Transit in conjunction with the City of Newark, Division of Traffic and Signals, and pursuant to N.J.S.A. 39:4-197(3)(a), the following described location is deleted as a bus stop:
DELETE BUS STOP:
1. In the Central Ward, along Central Avenue westbound on the northerly side thereof:
1st Street, nearside
Beginning at the easterly curb line of 1st Street, and extending 105ft easterly therefrom.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 39:4-197(3)(a) of Title 39 of the Revised Statutes of New Jersey, a municipality may, by ordinance, resolution or regulation designate or delete a bus stop; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 39:4-8(e) a municipality may without the approval of the Commissioner, and consistent with the current standards prescribed by the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Streets and Highways, by ordinance, resolution or regulation in any street under its jurisdiction designate stops.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. In the Central Ward, the following described bus stop location is hereby deleted:
Central Avenue, westbound on the northerly side, at 1st Street, (nearside) beginning at the easterly curb line of 1st Street and extending 105ft easterly therefrom.
2. No Municipal funds need to be expended for this act.
3. No Amendment will be made to this resolution without the approval of the Municipal Council of the City of Newark.
