WHEREAS, the Week of the Child is a national celebration that recognizes the importance of early learning, young children, their families, and commends the educators and providers who support them; and
WHEREAS, the early childhood workforce plays a vital role in the City of Newark by preparing children for school, supporting working families, and strengthening the local economy; and
WHEREAS, access to high-quality, affordable child care is essential infrastructure that enables parents and caregivers to work, pursue education, and achieve economic stability; and
WHEREAS, Programs for Parents, the Child Care Resource and Referral Agency for Essex County, has served the community for over 42 years; and
WHEREAS, Newark’s early childhood providers and educators demonstrate resilience, innovation, and leadership in meeting the evolving needs of children and families.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council strongly supports and recognize the “Week of the Young Child” and commends the contributions of early childhood providers, families, and advocates who are building a stronger future for the City of Newark.
