WHEREAS, Fire Captain Demetrius Robinson (Captain Robinson) has been an employee of the City of Newark, (the City) from June 14, 1993 through the present, and currently holds the position of Fire Captain; and

WHEREAS, Captain Robinson is an active member of the Police and Firemen Retirement System (PFRS) and has 24 years and 6 months of PFRS Service Credit, meeting the minimum service requirement of at least 4 years for PFRS members; and

WHEREAS, the Acting Director of the Department of Public Safety certifies that he is of the opinion that Captain Robinson is totally and permanently disabled and no longer can perform his assigned duties based upon the opinion of and documentation provided by the Institute of Forensic Psychology, medical professionals retained by the City of Newark (A redacted copy of the report from Institute of Forensic Psychology is attached); and

WHEREAS, the City is unable to provide an alternative to the PFRS covered position with duties capable of being performed by Mr. Robinson; and

WHEREAS, the Acting Public Safety Director has consented to the processing of the Involuntary Disability Retirement application.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY THAT:
