WHEREAS, the State of New Jersey Department of Transportation ("NJDOT") State Aid to Counties and Municipalities FY2015 Bikeways State Aid Program provides grant funding for bicycle lane projects; and
WHEREAS, the City of Newark wants to improve access to transit for bicyclists by creating a protected bike lane connecting Penn Station and Broad Street Station in the City of Newark; and
WHEREAS, the City of Newark desires to further the public interest by obtaining funding from the NJDOT State Aid to Counties and Municipalities FY 2015 Bikeways State Aid Program for construction of the Greenway Bike Route, Downtown Transit Connector in the City of Newark; and
WHEREAS, on September 24, 2014, on behalf of the City of Newark, the Director of the Department of Engineering submitted an application to NJDOT requesting grant funding in the amount of $415,500.00 from the NJDOT State Aid to Counties and Municipalities FY 2015 Bikeways State Aid Program for construction of the Greenway Bike Route, Downtown Transit Connector in the City of Newark, identified as application BIKE-20...
