WHEREAS, an emergency has arisen in Special Item of Appropriation in the amount of Three Hundred Sixty-Three Thousand, Two Hundred Forty-One Dollars and Zero Cents ($363,241.00), for the 2022 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Grant Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program and no provision has been made in the 2025 Temporary Budget for the aforesaid purpose and N.J.S.A. 40A:4-20 provides for the creation of an emergency appropriation for the purpose above-mentioned; and
WHEREAS, by Resolution 7R9-e, dated May 21, 2025, from the United State Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance, the City of Newark has been awarded Three Hundred Sixty-Three Thousand, Two Hundred Forty-One Dollars and Zero Cent ($363,241.00) to fund overtime cost to address violent crime to be distributed among several municipalities within Essex County; and
WHEREAS, N.J.S.A. 40A:4-20 provides that the Governing Body by a two-thirds vote may make temporary emergency appropriations for any purpose for which appropriations may lawfully be made for the period between the beginning of the current fiscal year ...
