WHEREAS, Ordinance 6PDF-e, adopted on May 20, 2015, authorizes the designation of an intersection, etc., for honorary and ceremonial purposes; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Dorothy Brazell was a resident of the City of Newark for eighty-nine (89) years and lived in Terrell Homes; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Dorothy Brazell worked tirelessly developing loving friendships in her community and was a leader, a housing activist and advocate for many seniors and voiceless families; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Dorothy Brazell was a member of the Riverband and Riverview Park Associations and East Ironbound resident CAB meetings and attracted national support and respect for her leadership in the challenges for affordable housing, low-income and homeless people.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council hereby authorizes the honorary and ceremonial renaming of the intersection of Chapel Street and Raymond Boulevard as “Donna Brazell Way.”
2. The official name of the said streets shall remain Chapel Street and Raymond Boulevard in their entirety.

This resolution authorizes the renaming of the intersection of Chapel Street and Raymond Boulevard as “Dorothy Brazell Way”, for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
