AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 23:5-14e, PARKING BY PERMIT ONLY IN DESIGNATED RESIDENTIAL AREAS, OF TITLE 23, TRAFFIC AND PARKING, OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, 2000, AS AMENDED AND SUPPLEMENTED, BY ADDING 4 (FOUR) HOUR PARKING FOR VISITORS AND BUSINESSES ON THOMAS STREET, BOTH SIDES, BETWEEN MULBERRY STREET AND HERMON STREET. WHEREAS, on December 19, 2019, the Municipal Council of the City of Newark, adopted Ordinance 6PSF-e, adding Thomas Street between Mulberry Street and Hermon Street, in the East Ward, to the Parking by Permit Only list; and

WHEREAS, the residents of Thomas Street have submitted a petition to add 4 hour parking for visitors and businesses, to existing Permit Parking on Thomas Street, both sides, between Mulberry Street and Hermon Street, in the East Ward; and

WHEREAS, on April 24, 2019, Councilman Augusto Amador submitted request to further amend City Ordinance 23:5-14e to include 4 hour parking for visitors and businesses to existing Permit Parking on Thomas Street, both sides, between Mulberry Street and Hermon Street, in the East Ward.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

Section 1. That Section 23:5-14e, Parking by Permit Only in Designated Residential Areas, of Title 23, Traffic and Parking, of the Revised General Ordinances of the City of Newark, New Jersey, 2000, be amended and supplemented by adding thereto the following:

Thomas Street, both sides between Mulberry Street and Hermon Street
(Hours: 24hrs. / Days: Monday-Sunday)
(Visitor and Business parking limited to 4 hours)

Section 2. Regulatory signs shall be erected and maintained by the City of Newark.

Section 3. Any ordinance or parts thereof inconsistent with this ordinance are hereby repealed.
