AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 23:5-1, PARKING PROHIBITED AT ALL TIMES, OF TITLE XXIII, TRAFFIC AND PARKING, CHAPTER 5, PARKING, STOPPING AND STANDING, GENERALLY, OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, 2000, AS AMENDED AND SUPPLEMENTED, TO PROHIBIT PARKING AT ALL TIMES ON BEECHER STREET, ON THE EAST SIDE, BETWEEN WEST KINNEY STREET AND HALSEY STREET. WHEREAS, the Council Member for the Central Ward and Council President, LaMonica McIver, requested to allow parking on one side of Beecher Street; and

WHEREAS, there is currently prohibited parking at all times on both sides, pursuant to Section 23:5-1; and

WHEREAS, the Municipal Council agrees that it is desirable to amend Section 23:5-1 by removing Beecher Street, both sides, between West Kinney Street and Halsey Street and revise Section 23:5-1, Parking Prohibited at All Times, by adding a "No Parking Anytime" restriction on Beecher Street, solely on the east side, between West Kinney Street and Halsey Street in the Central Ward; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

Section 1. That Section 23:5-1, Parking Prohibited at All Times, of Title 23, Traffic and Parking, of the Revised General Ordinances of the City of Newark, New Jersey, 2000, as amended and supplemented, be amended by adding thereto the following:

Beecher Street, east side both sides, from West Kinney Street to Halsey Street

Section 2. Any ordinances or parts thereof inconsistent with this Ordinance are hereby repealed to the extent of their inconsistency only.

Section 3. If any part of this Ordinance shall be declared to be invalid or inoperative, such part shall be deemed severable and the invalidity thereof shall not affect remaining parts of this Ordinance.
