WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 52:27H-67, the governing body of a qualified Municipality, may by ordinance create or designate a nonprofit corporation to act as a zone development corporation for the municipality, and

WHEREAS, Chapter 2:2-80.1 of the Code of the City of Newark currently designates the Newark Economic Development Corporation as the zone development corporation for the City of Newark; and

WHEREAS, the Municipal Council desires to name the Newark Community Economic Development Corporation as the zone development corporation for the City of Newark's Urban Enterprise Zone.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

Section 1. Title II Administration, Chapter 2, Office of the Mayor and Agencies, Part 2, Boards, Commissions and Agencies, Section 80, Zone Development Corporation ( Chapter 2:2-80) entitled "Zone Development Corporation" is hereby repealed and restated and replaced in its entirety with the following provisions:

2:2-80 Zone Development Corporation

2:2-80.1 Designation
The Newark Community Economic Development Corporation is hereby designated as the Zone Development Corporation for the City of Newark's Urban Enterprise Zone as authorized by N.J.S.A. 52:27H-67.

2:2-80.2 Maintenance of Zone Development Plan
The Zone Development Corporation will assist the Department of Economic and Housing Development with the ongoing evaluation of the City's zone development plan for its urban enterprise zone, including, from time to time, evaluating, assessing, maintaining and making recommendations for a...
