AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 5, AMUSEMENT AND AMUSEMENT BUSINESSES, CHAPTER 14, MANDATE TO HIRE SPECIAL POLICE OFFICERS, OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, 2000, AS AMENDED AND SUPPLEMENTED, TO REQUIRE ARMED SECURITY GUARDS IN LIEU OF SPECIAL POLICE OFFICERS.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

Section 1. Title 5, Amusement and Amusement Businesses, Chapter 14, Mandate of Special Officers of the Revised General Ordinances of the City of Newark, New Jersey, 2000, as amended and supplemented:
? 5:14 MANDATE TO HIRE SPECIAL POLICE OFFICERS.
a. Any place of business licensed under this Chapter which offers any entertainment including but not limited to, live music, disc jockey, and the sale and/or service of any alcoholic beverage, if open at any time after 11:00 p.m. on any day, and has an occupancy of fifty (50) or more occupants, shall have Special Police Officers or Armed Security Guards in lieu of Special Police Officers on premise from 11:00 p.m. through closing.
Section 2. Any existing ordinance, or part thereof, inconsistent with this Ordinance is hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
Section 3. If any Section, paragraph, subparagraph, clause or provision of this Ordinance shall be adjudged invalid, such adjudication shall apply only to the specific Section, paragraph, subparagraph, clause or provision so adjudged and the remainder of the Ordinance shall be deemed valid and effective.
Section 4. This Ordinance shall take effect upon final passage and publications in accordance with the laws of the State of New Jersey.
Section 5. Codification. This Ordinance shall be a part of the Code of the City of Newark as though codified and fully set forth therein. The City Clerk shall have this Ordinance codified and incorporate...
