WHEREAS, an emergency has arisen in Special Item of Appropriation in the amount of Twenty Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents ($20,000.00) for support of local initiatives that reduce environmental impacts, improve public health, and strengthen neighborhoods through innovative and community-driven strategies; and
WHEREAS, N.J.S.A. 40A:4-20 provides for the creation of an emergency appropriation for the same; and
WHEREAS, by a Notice of Award dated June 15, 2026, Sustainable Jersey-Grant Program awarded the City of Newark a PSE&G Energy Efficiency Partnership Program Grant in the amount of Twenty Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents ($20,000.00) to support urban heat island mitigation efforts through micro forest installations and cool roof paint application; and
