WHEREAS, an emergency has arisen in Special Item of Appropriation in the amount of $2,682,981.00 for the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Grant and no adequate provision has been made in the 2019 Temporary Budget for the aforesaid purpose and N.J.S.A. 40A:4-20 provides for the creation of an emergency appropriation for the purpose above-mentioned; and
WHEREAS, by Resolution 7R9-a dated February 6, 2019, the City of Newark accepted from the United States Department of Homeland Security/Federal Emergency Management Agency, program funds for Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Grant in the amount of $2,682,981.00 federal share and $1,667,799.00 non-federal cumulative commitment by the City of Newark for the period commencing February 18, 2019 through February 17, 2022; and
