WHEREAS, Ordinance 6PSF-f, adopted on May 20, 2015, authorizes the designation of an intersection, etc., for honorary and ceremonial purposes; and

WHEREAS, Reverend Froilan Guzm?n immigrated to the United States from the Dominican Republic in 1979 with his wife and four (4) children; and

WHEREAS, shortly after his arrival to the United States in the City of Newark, he received his calling to serve as a Pastor in the City, a calling of purpose, devotion, and love that lasted over thirty-six (36) years; and

WHEREAS, Reverend Guzm?n immediately impacted the lives of the City's most vulnerable: the homeless, children and youth, immigrants, and the impoverished, through outreach programs providing physical and emotional resources, spiritual guidance and solace, while also offering messages of strength, hope, faith and love; and

WHEREAS, before his untimely demise from COVID 19 in 2020, he cultivated a group of rising leaders, ensuring his legacy of hard work, unwavering dedication and commitment to community service and encouragement lives on.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
