WHEREAS, an emergency has arisen in the Special Item of Appropriation in the amount of Two Million One Hundred Seventy Seven Thousand, Sixty Four Dollars and Zero Cents ($2,177,064.00), for the provision of Supplemental Nutrition Services for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program and no adequate provision has been made in the 2023 Temporary Budget for the aforesaid purpose and N.J.S.A. 40A:4-20 provides for the creation of an emergency appropriation for the purpose above-mentioned; and
WHEREAS, by the Notice of Award dated May 22, 2023, the State of New Jersey Department of Health Division of Family Health Services awarded the City of Newark funds in the amount of Two Million One Hundred Seventy Seven Thousand, Sixty Four Dollars and Zero Cents ($2,177,064.00). The aforementioned program will provide funds for the provision of health care and supportive services to the residents of the City of Newark; and
