This resolution will authorize extension of Emergency Contract #E2025-14, issued for the period January 16, 2026 through April 16, 2026, awarded to VDA, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $375,000.00.

WHEREAS, the Department of Engineering ("the Department") retained elevator inspections of VDA, Inc. to issue elevator inspections, certifications, and plan reviews for approximately three thousand (3,000) vertical mobility devices in the City of Newark ("City"); and
WHEREAS, the Elevator Sub-Code Official retired as of October 1, 2025. Furthermore, the Department has confirmed that there is currently only one part-time elevator inspector, which poses a direct risk to the public safety and hampers the City's ability to issue Certificates of Occupancy for new construction projects that require proper inspection and approval of elevator systems; and
