Whereas, Ordinance 6PSF-E, May 20, 2015, authorizes the designation of an intersection, etc. for honorary and ceremonial purposes; and

 

Whereas, Rabbi Chaim White, was a prominent and influential spiritual leader and businessman in the City of Newark and became the spiritual leader of the Commandment Keepers Ethiopian Hebrew Congregants and founder and owner of the W. White & Sons Fuel Oil, Inc., one of the leading minority businesses in the City of Newark; and

 

Whereas, the Newark Municipal Council would like to commemorate his unselfish dedication to Newark by renaming the intersection Clinton Avenue  and Osborne Terrace in his honor.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

                     

1.                     The Municipal Council does hereby authorize and ratify the renaming of the corner of Clinton Avenue and Osborne Terrace as Rabbi Chaim Way for honorary and ceremonial purposes.

 

2.                     The names of said streets shall remain Clinton Avenue and Osborne Terrace in their entirety.
