WHEREAS, an emergency has arisen in the Special Item of Appropriation in the amount of $1,550,293.00 bringing total program resources to $2,379,893.00 for FY 2026 Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) and no adequate provision has been made in the 2026 Temporary Budget for the aforesaid purpose and N.J.S.A. 40A:4-20 provides for the creation of an emergency appropriation for the purpose abovementioned; and
WHEREAS, by award letter dated June 15, 2026 from New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development, The City of Newark has been awarded FY 2026 Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) in the amount of $1,550,293.00 to providing total funds in the amount of $2,379,893.00 for in-school and out of school youth and young adults ages 16-24 with valua...
