WHEREAS, on February 1, 2017, by Resolution 7R1-d-020117, the City of Newark Municipal Council authorized the Mayor and/or his designee, the Supervising Procurement Specialist, QPA, to enter into a contract with Sierra House, Inc., 11 South Maple Avenue, East Orange, New Jersey 07018 to provide janitorial services at Fire Headquarters, 1010 18th Avenue, Newark, New Jersey 07106, for the Department of Public Works; and
WHEREAS, the service is exempt from public advertising pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:11-5(n); and
WHEREAS, the City of Newark's Purchasing Division received written notice from the President/CEO of Sierra House, Inc., retracting its bid and requesting cancellation of its signed contract effective immediately because it is unable to fulfill the contract guidelines, requirements and meet the stipulations and because the need is greater than expected; and
WHEREAS, the Supervising Procurement Specialist, QPA, requests the Municipal Council to rescind the award to Sierra House, Inc., for janitorial services for Fire Headquarters for the Department of Public Works.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
