WHEREAS, the City of Newark desires to continue to provide comprehensive lead and healthy homes prevention services related to ensuring the environmental health and safety of the children of Newark; and

WHEREAS, the Kresge Foundation, has made funds available for the Newark Healthy Homes Program Project and Advancing Safe and Healthy Homes Initiative (ASHHI) planning project for the period commencing on July 1, 2013 and terminating on June 30, 2015; and

WHEREAS, the Municipal Council is supportive and have endorsed the Center for Disease Control (CDC) mandate of renovating and abating existing homes eliminating environmental hazards and creating "Healthy Homes"; and

WHEREAS, the Municipal Council have authorized the application and acceptance of funds from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Office of Healthy Homes and Lead Hazard Control, on June 2, 2011, pursuant to Resolution 7R2-a; and
