WHEREAS, the Department of Public Safety, Fire Division is presently warehousing, at considerable cost, Ladder #33 1987 FED, TRR (VIN #1F9BB A82H1 03796 6) and firefighting equipment that has been declared to be obsolete; and

WHEREAS, although this equipment has not been used, the current standards set for the Newark Fire Department can not be met by this equipment; and
WHEREAS, this equipment is still useful to other Fire Departments; and

WHEREAS, the Fire Department of San Jose De Los Llanos, Dominican Republic, has expressed a need for Ladder #33 and firefighting equipment; and

WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:11-36, the City of Newark is authorized to enter into contract with a foreign nation without public advertisement for bids regarding the sale or other disposition of personal property that is no longer needed for public purpose; and

WHEREAS, the City of Newark wishes to sell Ladder #33 and fire equipment which is no longer needed by the Department of Public Safety, Fire Division to the government of the Dominican Republic, for a nominal fee of one dollar ($1.00), for use by the Fire Department of San Jose De Los Llanos.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
