WHEREAS, Ordinance 6PSF-e, adopted on May 20, 2015, authorizes the designation of an intersection, etc. for honorary and ceremonial purposes; and
WHEREAS, Elda Gordills, was the proud owner and operator of the Las Americas Funeral Home located at the corner of Park Avenue and Roseville Avenue for over 30 years. She was a prominent and influential member of the North Ward community and contributed unselfishly towards the development of the Hispanic community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council does hereby authorize the honorary and ceremonial renaming of the intersection Roseville Avenue and Park Avenue as “Elda Gordills Way”.
2. The official name of the said streets shall remain Roseville Avenue and Park Avenue in its entirety.

This resolution hereby authorizes the naming of the intersection of Roseville Avenue and Park Avenue as “Elda Gordills Way”, for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
