This Resolution authorizes the City of Newark to apply for a grant in the amount of $6,500,000.00 from the NJDCA Coronavirus State Fiscal Recovery Fund for the implementation of the Newark Pedestrianization Program, with no municipal funds required.

WHEREAS, the State of New Jersey Department of Community Affairs ("NJDCA") Coronavirus State Fiscal Recovery Fund provides grant funding for municipalities for various projects; and
WHEREAS, the City intends to further the public interest by obtaining funding from the NJDCA Coronavirus State Fiscal Recovery Fund for the implementation of the Newark Pedestrianization Program; and
WHEREAS, on April 3, 2023, on behalf of the City of Newark, the Acting Director of the Department of Engineering submitted an application, identified as COVID-Fund Newark Pedestrianization Program, to NJDCA requesting grant funding in the amount of Six Million Five Hundred Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents ($6,500,000.00) from the NJDCA Coronavirus State Fiscal Recovery Fund for the implementation of the Newark Pedestrianization Program; and
